Two-time Pulitzer Prize–winning author and New York Times journalist Nicholas D. Kristof comes to the Skirball to discuss the themes and expand on the stories in the bestselling book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, written by Kristof and his wife, journalist Sheryl WuDunn.

This powerful and moving book describes the personal stories of women who have risen above crushing personal and political circumstances with help from the international community and gone on to improve not only their lives, but the lives of the people around them. Attendees will be invited to preview the new related exhibition after the lecture.
