New York Silicon Alley Meetup Group’s January event is focused around social good (social enterprise, corporate social responsibility, non-profit) and uncovering the investor/mentor (support system) viewpoint and the founder (execution) viewpoint.
There are different ways to interpret a social endeavor, and while as users or founders you might assume a project is categorized as either 'non-profit' or 'social enterprise', this increasingly becomes a blurrier line.
Agenda

Investor / Mentor Session (panel debate)
Focus - Uncovering changes in the assumptions made about 'social good' and where it's all going.
Questions - (subject to change)
1. What is the biggest material difference between social enterprise and non-profit?

2. Is social enterprise a bandage approach more-or-so than a non-profit?

3. Are there any possible solutions to the bandage approach?

4. Should a company be considered a social venture if the 'social good' portion is an off-set vs. its core?

5. Will all companies eventually comprise a 'social good' off-set?
Founder Session (panel discussion)
Focus - Learning about new projects and what it's like to be a 'social good' startup founder.
Questions - (subject to change)
1. Who are you and what is your initiative? (quick pitch)

2. Why did you decide to start this social venture and what was your first step?

3. What was your biggest hurdle starting off and what is your biggest hurdle now?
