New Years SQUART! The Resolutionists! January 9, 2011

Join SOMArts Cultural Center and co-producers THEOFFCENTER to help usher in another year of spontaneous queer art (SQUART), and fundraise for the upcoming SQUART retreat to Headlands!

The format is simple: people show up at 6 p.m. and break into teams. Given a list of criteria, groups are given two hours to make a piece. At 8 p.m. whatever is made is performed and commented on by a panel of judges. It's usually incredibly creative, inspiring, fun and always bizarre. The process begins at 6:00 p.m. with the show at 8:00 p.m.

$5 to participate. Performers will be competing for a $200 prize! (Performance spots are limited so please RSVP to Laura Arrington [[email protected]] if you are interested)

ABOUT THEOFFCENTER
THEOFFCENTER's objective is to research Queer sensibilities as a lens for contemporary thought, art, action, and community. By providing a multi-disciplinary forum they look to question issues around gender, race, resilience, identity, engagement, and evolution. Their focus is to provide resources and provocation to emerging and established art-makers who are dedicated to the intentional negotiation of concepts, modalities and/or voices of a Queer lens.
