Audition Nights for The New Act of The Year 2011 Comedy Showcase.
The Grand Final of the New Act of The Year 2011 has now relocated from the Hackney Empire Theatre and is to be held at the Barbican Theatre

’The New Act of the Year contest has established a reputation for unearthing the finest rookie comedians in the London cabaret circuit and catapulting them into the public eye of television and nationwide touring’ William Cook, The Guardian
The one and only Arthur Smith returns to the Barbican Theatre to host the legendary New Act of The Year 2011 Finals and present the best of emerging talent in the world of comedy this year.
Auditions, at East London’s Rich Mix Arts Centre and several other venues are attended by acts from all over Britain’s comedy circuit seeking their opportunity to perform at the celebrated industry showcase. The Auditions are run as a regular comedy show with up to 15 acts per night performing 5 minutes each. Compered by Roland Muldoon, The auditions are open to the public and attendance is free.
Established in 1982, the New Act of The Year show has helped most of the new wave of comedy acts get started on the big stage. Recent finalists include: Russell Brand, Catherine Tate, Gina Yashere, Shazia Mirza, Lee Nelsy Nelson, Rhod Gilbert, Abandoman, Andi Ohso and Frisky & Mannish amongst many, many more
