National Kidney Foundation of Greater New York Hosts
Kidney Walk to Help Fight Kidney Disease

Step up with family, friends and community members on Sunday, October 18, 2008 for the 8th Annual Kidney Walk at South Street Seaport on the south side of Pier 17 and Pier 16 presented by the National Kidney Foundation of Greater New York. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the Walk begins at 10:30 a.m.

Walkers of all ages are invited to join in the fun by strolling, running or wheeling their way past the finish line, individually or as part of a team. Prizes will be awarded to teams with the most walkers and walkers who secure the most contributions.

“People with diabetes and high blood pressure or a family history of kidney disease are at increased risk of developing kidney disease and should be screened with blood and urine tests and blood pressure measurement. We want to draw attention to the fact that early detection and treatment can save lives,” says Ingrid Montecino, CEO of NKF of Greater New York.

To register for the Kidney Walk online, visit http://walk.kidney.org/newyorkcity or call (212) 889-2210 for more information. There is no registration fee, but $100 is the suggested pledge amount. The 8th Annual Kidney Walk is sponsored by Thomson Reuters, Epstein Becker & Green, P.C., WBLS 107.5 FM and Fox 5.
