Liverpool guitarist Brian ‘Nasher’ Nash, with friends Peter Gill and Holly Johnson, formed a band in 1980 who went on to become one of the biggest of the 80s with their logo adorning a million t-shirts: Frankie Goes to Hollywood, only the second act in the history of the UK charts to reach number one with their first three singles (Gerry & the Pacemakers were first). Nasher has released several solo albums featuring his guitar driven pop sound and in November 2012 launched his autobiography Nasher Says Relax.

This After 8 event opens with Nasher in conversation about his book and his career with Dr Stuart Borthwick who, amongst other roles, is Programme Leader/Principal Lecturer in Popular Music Studies at LJMU. This is followed by a full Nasher gig, in which he is joined by Mark Ord on piano.

‘Undeniably something of Mersey Pop’s shrewd, sweet template [but] a certain rueful, world-weary humour underlies it all’
