The host city of the 3rd NanoSMat conference will be - Barcelona,
Spain! The event will take place during 21-24 October 2008 at the
Meliá Barcelona hotel, located in the financial and commercial heart
of the city.

As with the NanoSMat meetings in 2005 and 2007, NanoSMat-2008 will
foster the gathering of talented people from the world for the
exchange of ideas and information. The conference will thereby
provide a platform for interaction between researchers, scientists
and engineers from industry, research laboratories and academia, and
it will feature state-of-the-art developments in all aspects of
processing, characterisation and applications of nanostructured
materials.

A major purpose of the NanoSMat conference is to foster
collaborations among scientists, engineers, researchers and
industrialists, and thus to stimulate future technological
developments. There will be ample opportunity for conference
delegates to network in a friendly and supportive environment.

The success of a technology becomes especially apparent when it is
translated from a laboratory curiosity into economic development and
wealth creation. Every endeavour will be made to stimulate and
promote the discovery, development, and commercialization of advanced
nanoscale materials and new applications in the evergreen field of
surface and coatings technologies.

The event will also host an exhibition and offer several short
educational courses relating to nano-scale and nanostructured
materials.

We hope that you will be able to join us for what promises to be an
exciting meeting, both scientifically and culturally, and we look
forward to seeing you in Barcelona!
