Naked Comedy Showcase September 6, 2006

The Naked Comedy Showcase is the creation of Andy Ofiesh, comedian and nudist from Boston, Massachusetts. For 3 years Andy has organized hosted naked comedy shows featuring Boston area comics doing stand-up in the nude. Andy's first naked comedy show was in a public venue was at ImprovBoston this past summer days before going to the Edinburgh Fringe in August.

It was a full -- and fully clothed -- house Tuesday night for Andy Ofiesh's first public "Naked Comedy Show" at ImprovBoston in Inman Square. All the performers on the bill were to perform nude, which is probably what helped sell out ImprovBoston's intimate 75-seat theater with little advance notice and only word-of-mouth publicity.

Comics on that show included Rev. Tim McIntire, and the Walsh Brothers. News of the event spread quickly and preceded his arrival in Edinburgh.

After arriving in Scotland for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Andy seized an opportunity at Spank!, the late night comedy showcase at Smirnoff Underbelly, to do a 1 minute naked promo for fellow New England comedian, Brian Longwell of Why Work?. The overwhelming positive response at the event prompted Andy to host his Naked Comedy Showcase in Edinburgh.

Encouraged by the success of the shows at ImprovBoston and at The Fringe in Edinburgh, Andy is continuing naked comedy throughout 2006. Two Wednesdays per month will feature the Naked Comedy Showcase at ImprovBoston at 10 PM.
