Calling All Dawns is a song-cycle in three movements: day, night and dawn. Each movement corresponds to a different phase of life–life, death, and rebirth. In short, it is 5 songs about life, 3 songs about death, and 4 songs about rebirth. There are songs of joy, mystery, and hardship, reflecting the complexity of our mortality. There are songs of the deepest, darkest sorrow to accompany us through death. And finally, there are songs of triumph and exultation that bring us roaring back to life, beginning the cycle anew.

The bedrock of any culture is its sacred scriptures. Christopher Tin has set ancient sacred texts of cultures and religious traditions from around the world in a beautiful and moving song cycle that earned him two Grammy awards in 2010. This concert is a fusion of orchestra, choir, soloists and dance, with settings of texts in Swahili, Japanese, French, English, Polish, Latin, and even Maori. One of the songs, Baba Yetu, is well-known as the theme music for the internationally popular video game Civilization IV, and is the first video game music to win a Grammy.

The Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra, the orchestra-in-residence at Augustana Lutheran Church, is well known for its performances of baroque and classical masterworks and for its exploration of lesser-known historic and contemporary repertoire. The musicians of the Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra bring a variety of training and experience to the ensemble and a wide array of performing experience.

David Rutherford is Music Director for Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra and the Valor Symphonics Youth Orchestra in Highlands Ranch. He founded the Snake River Chamber Orchestra in Idaho as well as an experimental orchestra in Denver called UnStaged. David is also an award winning broadcaster, heard weekday afternoons (and also on Sunday morning for Sacred Classics) on KVOD, Colorado Public Radio's Classical Music Service at 88.1FM in the Denver Metro area.

Kim Robards Dance, now in its 24th season, is a leader in contemporary dance with its sophisticated yet accessible modern style which bridges the gap between ballet and modern dance featuring the choreography of Kim Robards, KRD Artistic Director. Kim Robards Dance has earned a regional and national reputation not only for its outstanding mainstage performances but also for the range and quality of its educational programs through The KRD School and outreach activity.

Fairview High School has had a long history of high-quality extensive performing arts programs including orchestra, band, choral music and dance. Eight separate choral groups, two orchestras, a robust concert, jazz and marching band program plus dance class cover a variety of musical styles and eras. Fairview’s arts programs are renowned throughout the region. The choir “Age of Guinevere” has been selected to perform in 2013 at the American Choral Directors Association National Convention in Dallas, TX. Various groups are frequently invited annually to perform at the prestigious Colorado Music Educator's Conference, held at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, while individuals routinely win auditions for Western State and All-State Orchestra and Band. Dance at Fairview is indispensable in the musical and pop show productions, and includes all styles of dance.

Since 1997, Augustana Arts has been serving the community by presenting the artistry of resident performing groups, internationally renowned touring artists and accomplished locally-based ensembles of many genres. The resident groups, Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra (MSCO) and the Colorado Women's Chorale (CWC) perform at a variety of venues in addition to the majestic Augustana Lutheran Church in Denver. Augustana Arts serves educational outreach through the City Strings program, an inspired vision guided by violinist Robyn Sosa. City Strings provides access to high quality, private music instruction free of cost to metro area students.
