MuseumNext is a two day event which will help you to develop concrete design strategies for engaging visitors as contributors to and participants in museum exhibitions and programmes.

Many museums are interested in finding new ways to energize visitors as active partners in the museum experience. At MuseumNext, we will clarify some of the design frameworks for partnering with visitors successfully based on tried and tested models.

Rather than presenting this content in the form of formal presentations and teaching sessions, we will be using your projects and goals as the starting point for the workshop. All attendees should come with a particular project or goal in mind against which you wish to develop participatory techniques. We will select 5-10 representative projects that will serve as the basis for our work together over the two days. Even if you don't have a project to share, you will be encouraged to actively participate by leading an unconference session on a specific participatory topic of interest and by contributing energetically to the projects at hand.

This event is relevant to a wide range of museum professionals, Directors, Curators, Exhibition Officers, Exhibition Designers, Education Officers and those responsible for developing interactive displays. In fact its for anyone interested in exploring how to work with their audiences to create more engaging, more innovative, and more powerful museum experiences.

The event will be led by the American Museum Consultant Nina Simon well known for writing and speaking about creating participatory, dynamic, audience-centered museum spaces and Jim Richardson, Managing Director of arts marketing agency Sumo, who has shared his vision of evolving arts audiences at conferences across Europe.
