The Requiem Mass in D minor by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was composed in 1791. The requiem was Mozart's last composition, and is one of his most powerful and recognized works, not only for its music, but also for the debate over how much of the music Mozart managed to complete before his death, and how much was later composed by his student Franz Xaver Süssmayr. Despite debate about how much of the music was Mozart's, the Requiem has taken a prominent place as one of Mozart's most important works.

ABOUT the Southern California Master Chorale: Choirs under Dr. Sheridan Ball’s direction have toured Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece, Israel, England, Scotland, Ireland, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Russia. They have performed in New York's famed Carnegie Hall on three separate occasions and appeared at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, the Hollywood Bowl, sang a Mass at the Vatican in Rome (twice), and performed on Radio Vienna . Their Summer 2008 China Tour was centered in and around the city of Beijing concluding with a tour extension to Hong Kong.

The Southern California Master Chorale is a professional ensemble made up of the finest singers Dr. Ball has encountered in his 30 years as a teacher, performer and conductor in the Los Angeles / Orange County region. The chorus was originally founded as the Cypress Community Chorus in 1975 and was rechristened the Cypress Masterworks Chorale in 1981. In that capacity the chorus composed of 75 to 130 singers (depending upon repertoire), has presented some of the world's finest choral-orchestral music to an ever widening audience. Mozart’s Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Carmina Burana, the Bach B minor Mass, Magnificat and Christmas Oratorio, the Brahms Requiem, Poulenc Gloria, Vaughan Williams Dona Nobis Pacem, Beethoven Mass In C, Verdi Requiem, Stravinsky Symphony of Psalms, Benjamin Britten War Requiem - the list is extensive and encompasses a vast repertoire from the library of choral-orchestral music.

ABOUT the Golden State Pops Orchestra: (GSPO) was formed in January of 2002 and is currently the only year-round pops orchestra in the Los Angeles area. The GSPO focuses on exciting and innovative concerts that are designed to entertain both the seasoned enthusiast as well as the casual music lover. The orchestra's repertoire includes film and television scores, legendary Broadway hits, and popular music of all kinds. Along with performing more modern genres, GSPO is the Orchestra-in-Residence at the historic Warner Grand Theatre and frequently programs influential pieces of the standard orchestral repertoire.

GSPO concerts often feature prominent guest artists and speakers. Recent guests include film composers Chris Young (Hellraiser, Spiderman 3), John Ottman (The Usual Suspects, Superman Returns, Fantastic Four), Hollywood film orchestrator and guest conductor Damon Intarbartolo, Video Game composers Gerard K. Marino (God of War), Tommy Tallarico (Video Games Live!), Christopher Lennertz (Medal of Honor) and Bob & Barn (MedEvil Resurrection). Recently GSPO performed the World Premiere of John Ottman's "Fantastic Four Suite" from the Fantastic Four films, and Ottman's Superman Returns Concerto, arranged for pianist Eric Anderson.

The Golden State Pops Orchestra is comprised of professional freelance musicians from around the Los Angeles area, many of whom are active in the recording industry. The GSPO's musicians have played on the soundtracks to films such as King Kong, Pirates of the Caribbean, Finding Nemo and Fat Albert, along with television shows including The Simpsons, Family Guy and King of the Hill.
