The Valley Concert Chorale, the Tri-Valley's premier chorus, in collaboration with the Las Positas College Chamber Choir and San Francisco Concert Chorale, will perform Mozart's powerful and moving choral masterpiece Requiem.

"We are very excited to bring this incredible music to the people of this region at the Bankhead Theater," says John Emory Bush, Artistic Director of the Valley Concert Chorale and San Francisco Concert Chorale. "This is music that will move your soul and excite your spirit."

Accompanied by a full orchestra and professional soloists, Mozart's Requiem is perhaps the most performed choral work throughout the world. However, not all performances of the Requiem are the same, that is, not even the same musical score.

"Mozart never finished the Requiem before his death," explains Bush. "The version known to the general public was completed by Mozart's assistant Franz Sssmayr. Many musicians have attempted to complete the Requiem as Mozart would have intended, removing deficiencies introduced by Sssmayr. We will perform the most recent completion by Robert Levin, a highly recognized Mozart scholar and theorist, and professor of Humanities at Harvard University."

"We are looking forward to another wonderful choral collaboration with the Las Positas Chamber Choir and San Francisco Concert Chorale," says VCC President Doris Slater. "The Requiem will be the second choral masterpiece ever performed at the Bankhead Theater." The three choruses performed Carl Orff's Carmina Burana together to a near-capacity crowd at the Bankhead Theater during its inaugural season in March 2008.

Tickets available only through the Bankhead Theater. Call (925) 373-6800, or online at www.bankheadtheater.org. Ticket office hours are Monday through Saturday, Noon to 6p.m., and on performance days, Noon through intermission.
