"Hollywood Life & Times of Johnny Mercer" promises romance, intrigue and Hollywood gossip for this entertaining, vibrant show. Mercer, a sought after songwriter for the classic Hollywood themes, spanned four decades of unforgettable music, with treasured lyrics that include some extremely well-known tunes like Moon River, Laura, That Old Black Magic, Autumn Leaves, Dream and Satin Doll. The list is long and impressive!

King's vocal appeal is enhanced by her expansive knowledge of the Hollywood era during which time Johnny Mercer was a huge celebrity with multiple recording hits himself. "I was so enamored with Mercer's casual personality, his rhythmic vernacular roots of the South, yet he made his place among the great songwriters that include Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, Harry Warren and Henry Mancinni." says the petite, lively brunette. "Mercer collaborated with over 230 other composers during his lifetime. He was certainly talented and mercurial. It has made this jazz journey especially challenging and invigorating for my musical interpretation. I welcome the opportunity to present his music to a new generation of listeners, with new modern grooves."

Accompanying her on this musical Mercer experience is Jef Labes, who takes control of the musical direction, playing full band keyboards for the show. An experienced performer in the Bay Area, Labes has worked with many top songwriters and vocalists, including Van Morrison and Bonnie Raitt.
