Morse Code Landscapes

Showing: February 14 – March 12, 2009
Opening Reception: Saturday, February 14th 6pm - 9pm

Opening February 14th at Michael Rosenthal, .-.. .- -. -.. Morse Code Landscapes will feature the work of Inga Dorosz, including a series of small drawings, a large-scale drawing installation, and 9-foot landscape scrolls. Amassing inspiration from a variety of sources (natural environment, photographs, books) and scales (from construction sites to mountain ranges), all of Dorosz’s featured gallery works are in some way representative of remote and transitional places.

Interested in visualizing grand and small scales, and representing space and surface on paper, Dorosz’s drawings use multiple perspectives that hover between a sculptural object and a flattened chaotic grid. The basic construction unit for Dorosz’s drawings are parallel lines intentionally employed with a limited mark making vocabulary in order to concentrate the intensity towards the arrangement of the final form.

*For those classic prose lovers, who are adept in morse code, some of Dorosz’s mountain planes drawings will also provide a bit of reading pleasure.
