Mommy (or Daddy) and Me October 24, 2008

Due to popular demand, Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration’s Mommy (or Daddy!) and Me program is now being offered twice on Friday mornings – at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m.

Open to infants and children up to age 3, the one-hour program teaches young ones about the ocean and its many inhabitants through interactive activities in a stimulating classroom environment. Each session includes a hands-on activity, such as finger-painting, an arts and crafts project or an age-appropriate science experiment, story time, music and dancing and a visit from a real marine animal.

Children and caregivers also get free time to explore the classroom, which includes a soft area for infants to lay and roll safely, terrarium housing two turtles, pretend play area featuring a mini-lab, reading area, sensory table filled with water, sand and other materials and parent resource library.

In addition to parents, grandparents, nannies and other caregivers are welcome – the program provides many opportunities for caregivers and kids to meet and socialize.

WHEN:Fridays from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.

WHERE: Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration, 55 Coogan Blvd., Mystic, CT 06355

COST: Members: $15 for one caregiver and one child; non-members: $18 for one caregiver and one child. $5 for each additional child or adult. Siblings up to six months in age are welcome for free. Price includes admission to the Aquarium for the day.
