Many everyday objects are becoming embedded with sensors, giving them the ability to communicate data with one another. Almost any device with an electrical pulse can become Internet-enabled, allowing data to be shared and reported in new ways. With these developments, it begs questions about how all of the data will be mined to create useful conclusions, what technologies will be integrated into our everyday lives, what some of the privacy implications may be, and where the real business opportunities lie. Join Zia Yusuf, CEO of Streetline, as he opens our panel by discussing how sensors, connectivity, and software can make problems such as finding a parking spot a thing of the past. This presentation, moderated by Seattle Times’ technology columnist Brier Dudley, will launch a larger discussion on the technological implications of the Internet of Things, as compared and contrasted by our expert panel, including Stefan Weitz of Microsoft, Scott Sedlik of Inrix, and Joshua Smith of UW.
