The 7-piece Mingus Dynasty, the original Mingus legacy band, has rejoined the family of the Mingus Big Band & The Charles Mingus Orchestra in bringing the great legacy of Mingus composition to audiences around the world.

Recent Mingus Dynasty members have included: Craig Handy, Wayne Escoffery, Seamus Blake, Vincent Herring, Jaleel Shaw, Ku-umba Frank Lacy, Andy Hunter, Conrad Herwig, Luis Bonilla, Alex Sipiagin, Ryan Kisor, Kenny Rampton, Sean Jones, Boris Kozlov, Hans Glawischnig, Kenny Drew Jr., George Colligan, Donald Edwards, Jeff "Tain" Watts, and others.
