Old Sears Bldg., #315, 3435 Cesar Chavez Street
San Francisco, California 94110

Bluedahlias Gallery & Studios, located in the Old Sears Building in San Francisco, this October features the large-scale color photographs of artist Mimi Plumb. Plumb's finely detailed images of horse backs embody the rolling hills of the California landscape where she grew up. The images simultaneously describe the torso of the horse and the foothills of Mt. Diablo in the late summer sun.

Join us Saturday, October 20, from 3-4pm for a gallery talk sponsored by the San Francisco arts organization, Visual Aid. Mimi will discuss the issues involved in creating a cohesive artist portfolio, from content to presentation. A reception for the artist, from 4-6pm, will follow.

Mimi Plumb has been teaching photography for the past 20 years at San Jose State University. She has photographed for the California State Department of Housing and Community Development, and created a portfolio of California farmworkers and their efforts to become unionized. She has photographed the landscape extensively, concentrating on the aftermath of human and natural cataclysms. Plumb has received artist grants from the California Arts Council, the Phelan Art Award, and the Marin Arts Council.
