Dewey Decibel Concerts at the Williamsburg Library Theatre resume with a visit by the great American music collector and performer, Mike Seeger. The six-time Grammy nominee performs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 5 in the Williamsburg Library Theatre on Scotland Street. Called "America's Number One traditional music asset," Mike Seeger has devoted his life to researching, singing and playing music made by American southerners before the media age. This music is rich in British traditions, blended with ancient African tunes. The songs and sounds are unique to the South and the Appalachians and is the inspiration for today's country, bluegrass and popular music. As he sings the old songs in traditional styles, Mike Seeger plays an array of instruments, including banjo, fiddle, guitar, jaw harp, lap dulcimer and autoharp.

As a founding member of the New Lost City Ramblers in the 1950s, Mike played an integral role in helping to revive interest in a variety of traditional music, now played by thousands of musicians across the country. Since his first recordings with the Ramblers, Mike has gone on to record almost 40 albums, both solo and with others.
