Mighty Warriors of Comedy is an entertaining documentary introducing the all-Asian American performance group known as the 18 Mighty Mountain Warriors. The members of this group are not really warriors, they do not come from the mountains, and there are not even 18 of them. But they are mighty, a mighty sketch comedy troupe trying to succeed in the competitive entertainment world of comedy and commercial acting.

Founded in San Francisco, this amazing team not only performs innovative skits for their audience, but also subversively touches upon diverse issues that affect Asian Americans, like the fragile social-political relationships between neighboring Asian countries and tampons. This intriguing documentary takes a look at the art of making people laugh from the viewpoint of comedians trying to break down stereotypes while embracing the hilarity of our differences. Director Sung H. Kim (BOOK OF RULES, 2003 DC APA Film Festival) captures the laughter and the struggle of Asian Americans fighting to make a living in the world of comedy.

Filmmaker in attendance.
