Fresh from touring the Southwest and a show in Tokyo, Japan, Los Angeles-based Mezklah, return to California for a pair of college shows at the beginning of May. Scheduled to appear at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, CA on May 1st and UC Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, CA on May 3rd, Mezklah will introduce the collegiate set to their distinctive brand of Latin music. Blending alternative rock with touches of reggae, salsa, and cumbia –layered over elements of trip-hop and drum and bass beats, Mezklah’s sound is a sonic reflection of the diversity of their hometown.

Exalted as “one of L.A.’s most powerful and promising alt-Latino bands” by the Los Angeles Times, Mezklah recently entered the studio with producer Cesar Mejia (Herbie Hancock, Brian Eno, Will I.Am and Suspended Apprehension), to lay tracks for their forthcoming album. Formerly a duo comprised of founding members Angel Garcia (vocals) and Greg Hernandez (guitar), the album marks the first recordings with new bandmates Matias Pizarro (percussion and drums) and Juan Carlos Ramirez (trumpet, keyboards and bass).
