In 1993, Ann Metzger was recognized at a special dinner in her honor and presented with a lifetime membership in the Guild. Jerry Thomas, president 1993-95 is pictured above presenting Ann the award. Ann passed away in 2004. In her estate, Ann made a generous gift to the Guild with instructions that a prize endowment be established in her name. To award artists for their achievements, the conditions of her bequest state that cash prizes will be given to specific media in one or more juried exhibits each year. In 2007, these prizes will be awarded at the Metzger Memorial Exhibit, December 16, 2007 - March 8, 2008. Combined with other prizes, the total awards will be $10,000.

This all-media national exhibit will be juried from slide entries, with a date for postmark entries October 15, 2007. Marshall Arisman who exhibits in America, Europe, and the Far East will jury the exhibit. His work is in the permanent painting and drawing collection of the Brooklyn Museum, the National Museum of American Art and the Smithsonian Collections. He is chairman of the MFA degree program at the school of Visual Arts in New York City.
