The Newark Public Library and the National Alliance on Mental Illness of New Jersey (NAMI NJ) will launch a monthly series of educational workshops on mental health for the Latino community during the Library's annual salute to Hispanic Heritage. These informal, one-and-a-half hour workshops (taught in Spanish) will be offered free of charge once a month in the Sala Hispanoamericana of the Newark Public Library and will focus on common conditions such as depression, ADHD, stress, bipolar disorder and related topics. The first session will offer an overview of schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, anxiety and psychosis. There will be an emphasis on bipolar disorder. This and all subsequent workshops will be presented by Martha Silva of NAMI NJ.
