Introduction to PostgreSQL - Jason Godden 7:15 - 8:00pm

To the uninitiated, the size and scope of PostgreSQL, 'the world's most advanced open source database', often make it seem a daunting choice when choosing a database technology. However it's speed, expansive set of features, and massive scalability make it a perfect choice for anything from light-weight web apps to enterprise-scale data warehouses. In this presentation Jason Godden (Senior DBA at Hitwise) will provide an introduction to Postgres and discuss some of it's most compelling features.

OpenID - Ben Balbo 8:15 - 9:00pm

OpenID is the latest in a suite of single sign on and user information repositories. In this presentation, Ben will discuss it purpose, drawbacks, and future plans. He will also attempt to convert a popular open source application to facilitate OpenID authentication in a daring live coding session.

Socialising & Networking - 9:00pm onward

After the meeting we'll be moving across the road to the Belgian Beer Cafe, for an informal chat over a few cold ones.

Pizza, softdrink, tea, coffee and comfy swivel chairs will be provided with compliments of our major sponsor, Hitwise.
