During the March meeting we'll be trialing a new user-participation activity where we'll be ask for your opinion on a topic of the month. A prize will be awarded for the most original and insightful contribution. For the March meeting, we want to hear about your favourite firefox extensions: which ones do you use and why? The person contributing best response will receive a copy of O'Reilly's PHP In A Nutshell.

Also, please note that pizza will be delivered at the start of the meeting, so make sure you turn up on time or risk missing out!

Building Secure Web Applications - Chris Burgess 7:15 - 8:00pm

This presentation expands on a presentation given at the Open Source evelopers' Conference in December 2006 titled "Web Application Security - Tools, Techniques, Tips and Tricks". I will explore some of the original
material for those who were unable to attend, taking a look at the plethora of Open Source tools that can greatly assist developers and testers of web applications. In addition to this, I will discuss techniques that can be
used to harden web applications.

Chris Burgess has over 10 years experience in Information Technology and currently works as a System Administrator for a not-for-profit organization in Melbourne, Australia. He also works as a freelance Red Hat Certified Engineer on a broad range of UNIX and Windows systems. Chris is also the Victorian President of the System Administrators Guild of Australia.

He is a regular speaker at open source conferences around the world.
