You are invited to SMP Tech's "Meet the Experts" February 28, 2012, complimentary Forum on Composite Materials. Once again, SMP has put together an impressive program. This Forum will provide you with valuable information concerning the mechanical advantages of using Carbon Fibers to replace conventional materials in product design.

We are honored to have Dr. Stephen Tsai as our featured speaker. He is Professor Emeritus at Stanford University and is an expert on composite materials and design. Dr. Tsai's current interests include the multi-angle thin-ply NCF (non-crimp fabric) that can lead to new opportunities in design and manufacturing. His research includes innovative design approaches which take advantage of simple composite building blocks with repeats to obtain homogenization and high performance.

We are also delighted to have Dr. Kim Parnell at the "Meet the Experts" Series again. Dr. Parnell is an engineering consultant with Parnell Engineering and consulting (PEC), and is an Adjunct Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Santa Clara University. Dr. Parnell consults in a number of technology fields and applies his experience in failure analysis and reliability to improve products. Prior to starting PEC, Dr. Parnell spent 13 years with Exponent Failure Analysis Associates and was a Senior Managing Engineer. his talk will include a discussion of composite delamination and damage, and the use of nonlinear finite element simulation to predict composite performance.

The Composite Materials Forum will include a door prize drawing and complimentary lunch for the attendees. Since specialty composites are used widely in automobiles, race cars, high performance bicycles and sports equipment, we are holding this Forum at Sparky's Hot Rod Garage. Our last Forum at Sparky's, on Plug-In Hybrid Vehicles, was jam-packed, so you should register now to reserve your spot!
