A recent European design conference focused on Measuring Design, a topic of interest and controversy for designers and design managers. Along with representatives from companies such as Google, BMW Design, Microsoft, Helly Hansen, Johnson Controls and others, Norcal BMA's Design Roundtable Manager attended, paying particular attention in order to spark equally lively discussion amongst our membership. What are some of the methods that design managers use to measure the ROI of design? How can we better communicate design results to executive management? How does the process of measuring affect the design process? Or...is measuring design even possible? These are just some of the explorations that will be reported - and perhaps argued - at our the NorCal BMA April Design Roundtable.
