This diverse program, featuring Canada’s Measha Brueggergosman (soprano) and Marc-André Hamelin (piano), as well as artists from Norway’s Risør Chamber Music Festival, showcases the variety for which the Risør festival is known. Brueggergosman will sing Mahler’s song cycle (accompanied by Hamelin) in a 1920 arrangement that Schoenberg wrote for his private music society in Vienna. Norwegian clarinettist Martin Fröst will perform the concerto for clarinet that Benny Goodman commissioned from Copland (the work had its premiere at Carnegie Hall). And pianist Leif Ove Andsnes, one of the Risør festival’s Artistic Directors, joins the Risør Festival Strings to perform music by Strauss, Mozart, and Bartók. Please visit the Carnegie Hall website for December 4 program details. Marc-André Hamelin will also perform with the Risør festival artists on December 1 at 7:30 pm.
