MATT HAIMOVITZ TRIO: J S Bach Goldberg Variations

Sunday, January 18, 7:00 pm

He performed at Carnegie Hall at the age of 13, and went from there to win international acclaim. Innovative cellist Matt Haimovitz is joined by violinist Jonathan Crow and violist Douglas McNabney to perform from their J.S. Bach Goldberg Variations. Bach’s monumental work for piano was arranged for string trio by Dmitri Sitkovetsky and dedicated to Canadian pianist Glenn Gould, who helped establish the Goldberg Variations as one of the most beloved and important works in the canon. Matt has performed with the Berlin and New York Philharmonics but also seeks new audiences in festivals and coffeehouses, redefining what it means to be a classical artist for the 21st century. A Harvard graduate, he lives in Montreal, where he is a professor of cello at McGill University.
