it's total bang for your buck:

*check out yoshitoshi's strange tales - exhibit of japanese woodblock prints. intense colors, histrionic gestures, and human emotions depicted with great psychological subtlety. these are gorgeous works, some bloody, haunting, and erotic.

*see tezuka: the marvel of manga - 200 original artworks by the god of manga. this is your only chance, cuz we're the only museum in the country to showcase these beautiful pieces.

*experience "holding back the night," site-specific dance performances and video installations by plaza, inspired by the vibrant prints in yoshitoshi's strange tales.

*get your drink on at the ca$h bars and in the cafe

*make a cool lantern in honor of the chinese ghost festival and obon, the japanese buddhist "festival of the dead" that welcomes the return of ancestral spirits.

*relax in the manga lounge. big comfy beckoning bean bags, drawing activities, and plenty o' manga.

*enjoy the aural arrangements of dj tau

*watch two documentaries on tezuka - one focused on his manga, and the other on his anime. i got a little choked up when i saw them. quite stirring and powerful!

*embark on guided tours of our special exhibitions, led by our highly trained docents

*stroll the galleries

*people watch like crazy!

*look at the eye candy in the museum store

*and a lot more...
