MATCHA: photography, fashion, + film
asian art museum
thursday, nov 1
5-9 pm
only five flippin' bones ($5) !!!

* get yer swerve and verve on with dj nako, she of local deejay fame (from popscene). she'll spin indie / new wave tunes, guaranteed to put a little sway in your toosh.

* calm those frazzled nerves with a drink or two (or three) from the cash bar.

* like being in grade school art class, make your own b/w photographs with darkroom materials! textural, haunting, layered photographs...then take 'em home with you!!!

* take part in the youtube challenge -- everyone will have a chance to screen their fave youtube clip.

* check out our two stunning fall shows: stylized sculpture, which features the original garments by japan's fashion luminaries and history of history, a beautiful grab bag of fossils, photography, and other cool pieces collected by an internationally acclaimed artist.
i must say that these are exquisite, gorgeous installations.

* two bay area filmmakers -- emiko omori and michael kinomoto -- will be onsite to create short works inspired by history of history, using the museum as a setting for their productions, allowing you to participate in the creative process. the results will be on the CAAM (center for asian american media) website in late november. who knows, you might be an extra.

* listen to curator talks, tag along on docent guided tours of the galleries, and much more. curators are pretty darn smart and fun to listen to.

* most importantly, show up for some potent people watching AND get your arts + culture fill. talk about demolishing two birds with one stone.
