Master Class Series July 12, 2012

July 12, 13, 16-17, 22, and 24 at 8pm

Do you want to enjoy a first-rate performance AND learn more about music? California Summer Music's free master class series at Sonoma State's Green Music Center is perfect for you! Each master class features three performances by our talented young performers. Each performance is followed by a class where the master will show both audience and performer methods to use to improve the performance.

7/12: Zaven Melikian, violin: Mr. Melikian is former concertmaster of the San Francisco Opera, he also played with the San Francisco Symphony. He is professor emeritus at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

7/13: Hans Boepple, piano: Mr. Boepple has soloed with the LA Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera House Orchestra. He currently teaches at Santa Clara University.

7/16: Hai-Ye Ni, cello: Ms. Ni is currently principal cellist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. She has also served as associate principal cellist of the New York Philharmonic and won the Naumberg Competition.

7/17: Robin Sharp, violin and chamber music: Ms. Sharp is currently on faculty at Stanford University and concertmaster of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra. She has also been a member of the San Francisco Symphony and the Ives Quartet.

7/22: Irene Sharp, cello: Ms. Sharp teaches at Mannes College and UC Berkeley. A student of Margaret Rowell, she performed in the legendary Pablo Casals master classes at Berkeley. She has also taught at the Meadowmount School for Strings, Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, and Indiana University's String Academy

7/24: Carol Rodland, viola: Ms. Rodland is currently on faculty at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. She also taught at the New England Conservatory, Berlin's "Hanns Eisler" Hochschule, Arizona State University, and as guest faculty at the Juilliard School.

Each master class will be followed by a reception where audience members may meet the performers and masters!
