Masami Teraoka was born in Onomichi, Japan and moved to the United States, where he received his MFA from Otis Art Institute, Los Angeles, CA. Most known for his work that adopted the aesthetics of traditional Edo period woodblock prints, he has abandoned this style over the past decade. This exhibition explores cultural and political critique of contemporary culture, particularly its confessional quality in America society, rendered in the style of European classical oil painting with a dose of Kabuki drama thrown into the mixture.
