Please join Women & Their Work on Thursday, April 2nd for a springtime bonanza of avant-garde live music and performance from Silky Shoemaker and No Mas Bodas.

The ladies of experimental garage-synth band No Mas Bodas craft saturated soundscapes with live cello, saxophone, otherworldly vocals, xylophone and drum machines. Their live shows combine theatrics and mystical energy with virtuosity and tight beats to create dance pop as intellectual as it is catchy.

As co-founder of themed monthly queer performance night CampCamp! and annual Austin music festival GayBiGayGay, as well as founding member of the Chicago Boys Choir, Silky Shoemaker has facilitated some of Austin’s most ambitious and memorable performance events in recent memory. This summer, her show-stopping interludes in Rebecca Havemayer’s Trivia Travesty showcased her singular blend of deadpan humor, personal mythology, and penchant for elaborate costumery and profanity. At Women & Their Work, she will debut a new short play about the nature of love, hate, and what we can build, featuring dance, papier mache and video work.

And if you haven’t gotten a chance to view the art on display for the Texas Biennial, we’ll still have the TXB group show up in the gallery. So come out and join us for art, performance and beats!
