The 73rd. Ave. Theatre Company
presents
Mary, Mary
“A delightful, romantic comedy”

by Jean Kerr
Directed by Maru Garcia

Wisecracking cynic Mary and infuriatingly sensible Bob are on the verge of divorce following a nine month separation. Their marriage, it seems, foundered on the rocks of Mary's unrelenting sense of humor. Bob’s lawyer has summoned her to help with Bob’s sticky tax returns in the hope they can avert an audit by the IRS. It takes Dirk Winston, a handsome film hero whose star is in decline, to understand Mary. Dirk makes her face up to her secret. He offers her the kind of adoration her practical and obtuse husband has been unable to manage. Just in time, Bob, who has been on the verge of marrying a rich, young health fanatic named Tiffany Richards, realizes that he still needs Mary.

The newly formed 73rd. Ave. Theatre Company presents “Mary, Mary” March 6 to April 12 at the 73rd. Avenue Playhouse, 7287 Lowell Blvd. in Westminster. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 adult;$16 seniors and students and available by calling 720-276-6936 or emailing

The cast, under the direction of Maru Garcia, features Magally Rizo Antuna, Randy Diamon, Clara Evans, Darlene Grandy, Steve Seaholm and Bill Thompson.

Jean Kerr was best known for Please Don't Eat the Daisies (1957), a humorous look at suburban life. The book was a national bestseller, later adapted for the screen as a vehicle for Doris Day and David Niven, and subsequently made into a sitcom.

Mary, Mary ran for four years in the early 1960s and was one of the longest–running shows on Broadway of the decade; it, too, became a Hollywood film with Debbie Reynolds as the lead.
