For more than forty years, jazz vocalist Mark Murphy has established himself as one of the world's greatest and hippest jazz vocalists performing today, drawing praise from vocal greats Betty Carter, Peggy Lee and Shirley Horn amongst others. Discovered by Sammy Davis Jr. at a Jam Session in his hometown of Syracuse New York, his voice is resonant, flexible and magnificently textured. He creates magical improvisations and artfully conveys the true essence of jazz singing. He has penned lyrics to many of the greatest instrumentals including the famed "Stolen Moments" and "Red Clay." His latest Verve CD, Once To Every Heart, further demonstrates his rightful place in the pantheon of jazz masters. He returns to Yoshi's for one night only on June 12th.
