marin county
San Francisco Bay Area, California

For the 13th consecutive year, over 300 Marin County artists will open their studios to the public on the weekends of May 6 & 7 and May 13 & 14, 11am-5pm each day. From the lofts of West Marin to the art collectives in Larkspur, the converted spare bedrooms in Mill Valley to the expansive gallery space in San Rafael, visitors are invited to witness masterpieces in the making at one of the most-anticipated events in the County. It?s an up close and personal art experience to watch inspiration to creation, with art including photographers, jewelers, printmakers, painters and sculptors. Art will also be available for purchase, and with something for every taste and budget, those looking to expand or begin a collection are sure to find that special piece. The first weekend features artists from the towns of Sausalito, Mill Valley, Tiburon, Corte Madera, Larkspur, Greenbrae and central San Rafael. The second weekend will be devoted to artists from North and West Marin, including Novato, north San Rafael (Terra Linda, Lucas Valley and Marinwood), Woodacre, Nicasio, San Geronimo, Forest Knolls, Pt. Reyes, Bolinas, Fairfax, San Anselmo, Ross and Kentfield. There is no charge for Open Studios, and most artists provide refreshments as well as wonderful conversation. Maps and brochures will be available throughout the County. For more information, call the Marin Arts Council at 415-499-8350 or visit the website at www.marinarts.org

The purpose of Marin Open Studios, a program of the Marin Arts Council, is to bring artists and the public together in the artist?s creative environment. This is part of the Marin Arts Council?s vision of changing the way people look at the arts.
