The creative young conductor Benjamin Rous leads 75 Boston professional, Harvard, and elite amateur musicians. We'll play the incredible Fourth Symphonies of both Gustav Mahler and Ludwig van Beethoven. Ben will talk with the audience about the music we're playing at 7 PM (an hour before the show.)

This is a great program whether you know classical music or not! The Beethoven symphonies are among the masterpieces of all music. Mahler, usually famous for his violent and hyperemotional style, here uses a large orchestra to write his most peaceful work, a musical depiction of heaven. A symphony for voice and orchestra, this symphony features Canadian soprano Anne Harley.

Tickets are $20, $10 for students - 617 496-2222 or http://www.boxoffice.harvard.edu.
