Saturday June 30th Great Scott hosts an event which brings together some of New England's finest young talent under one roof. Tanner Ross (DJ Set), Mahi Mahi, the Electric Laser People and local phenoms The Peasantry all will pack a bill of live dance music, DJ-inspired band tunes and the hottest beats the region can offer.

Tanner Ross, a Berklee student and New Jersey native, is one of the hottest production talents in America. His remix of Claude VonStroke's "Who's Afraid of Detroit?" ("Best track of 2006" - Richie Hawtin) brought a fresh electro-house take on the now classic DirtyBird jam. Ross' DJ set from this year's Winter Music Conference in Miami turned a nearly-rained-out dissapointment into a talked-about event (video below). Ross records for the DirtyBird label out of San Francisco.

With recent appearances at Boston's own Thunderdome party and Pop! Providence, Mahi Mahi is a live duo who is coming under a lot of attention. The aim of Mahi Mahi (aka V. Von Ricci and VZO) is to whip your ass into a dance frenzy and, using only drums and live electronics, the two do just that (video below). A windstorm of hyper-disco fire.

Electric Laser People was once known as Emergenza sensations the Product. Born from local electronic label unlockedgroove, the dance band plays a whimsical, bouncy groove that has fans from Alaska to Florida chanting along to their lyrics. ELP recently released their full-length debut "Straight Talk on Raising Kids" to wide acclaim. Billboard called it "a sonic merging of Ratatat and Licensed to Ill."

Finally, The Peasantry is another Berklee product with indie-pop inspiration and an electronic soul. Having headlined the Abbey Lounge and played venues throughout New England, the Peasantry are fast-rising stars. In August, they play NYC's prestigious Knitting Factory.

Both the Peasantry and ELP will feature members DJing throughout the night (DJ Etan and MIT robot master Six Million Dollar Dan, respectively) turning our Saturday night at Great Scott into one long party. Mahi Mahi light dancefloors on fire and Tanner's expectional beats round out the night.
