Johann Sebastian Bach Magnificat in D Major, BWV 243 Celebrate the beauty of the written word brought to life through the power of sublime music in this very special joint presentation by three of the D.C. area’s outstanding early music ensembles. This joint concert of chorus, soloists, and period- instrument orchestra will include J. S. Bach’s setting of the canticle of Mary, Magnificat, and his Overture from Orchestral Suite in D Major; Monteverdi’s Beatus vir and Langrime d’amante al sepolcro dell’amata; selections from Telemann cantatas; and choral works by the modern composers Arvo Pärt, Einojuhani Rautavaara, and Rudolf Mauersberger.
