A photo exhibit from Magdeburg depicting the peaceful “Monday” demonstrations on the cathedral square, that along with similar demonstrations throughout the former East Germany, brought about the down-fall of the Communist regime and the Fall of the Berlin Wall. This exhibit will be presented in tandem with the Downtown Public Library’s permanent display which showcases the Civil Rights Movement in Nashville. Research indicates that the peaceful demonstrations initiated by Dr. King and other civil rights leaders greatly influenced the tenor of the demonstrations in Germany decades later.
