Lyric Theatre presents 'Oh Mr. Sousa!' July 3, 2011

In his lifetime, John Philip Sousa composed 15 operettas, 29 fantasies, 5 overtures, 24 dances, and 137 marches - many of which are still popular today. This unique musical biography aims to play them all (well, nearly) and interspersed with the high-spirited music, eight actors play multiple roles to highlight major events in Sousa's life. A sensation at its premiere in November 2004 at Arizona's Sundome, this South Bay Area premier will combine Lyric Theatre performers and members of the San Jose Wind Symphony. This is feel-good musical entertainment that honors one of America's premier musicians.
