Love and Power in Relationships

a daylong workshop led by Rosanne Shepler, LPC, LP

This workshop explores the dynamics of love and power in our personal relationships. Ahead of his time, Jung described the archetypal dimensions involved in “falling in love.” We will explore these unconscious processes, which include our parents, our temperament, our environment, and our complexes.

In today’s world, we now understand that falling in love also includes the biochemistry as well as the emotional memory center of the brain, which will also be explored. But most importantly, the Garden of Eden of Love eventually leads to the Gates of Hell and an opportunity to identify our early wounds and the unconscious patterns that keep us stuck in our primary relationships. That very special person we fall in love with inevitably becomes a source of frustration and activates shadow and the darker side of power. But that very special person can also be a resource into our own journey into wholeness.

In this workshop, we will use active imagination and Imago Therapy exercises to become more conscious of our own unconscious patterns that are problematic in our primary relationship and keep us from becoming more whole.

Rosanne Shepler, LPC, LP, is a graduate of the C. G. Jung Institute of New York, where she is also a licensed psychoanalyst. She is in private practice in Vienna, VA, and is an officer of the New York Association for Analytical Psychology.
