April is Poetry Month, and to celebrate the wonderful verses, words, and images our local poets have gifted to us, Wordsmiths Books is presenting weekend afternoons of poetry for the entire month of April.

Louise Morgan Runyon's new book of poetry, Landscape: Fear & Love, explores both the natural landscape and the landscape of human relationship. She has performed her poetry at the Southern Women Writers Conference, Emory University, Decatur Library, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, and the High Museum. Runyon is a dancer/choreographer as well as poet. Artistic Director of Louise Runyon Performance Company, she has performed her one-woman show, Crones, Dolls, and Raging Beauties, around the nation. Her first book of poems, Reborn, was published in 2004.

Rupert Fike's poems and short fiction have appeared in Rosebud (Pushcart nominee), The Georgetown Review, Snake Nation Review (winner 2006 single poem competition), The Atlanta Review (forthcoming), Natural Bridge, Borderlands, storySouth, and others. Locally, he has given readings at Callanwolde, the Carter Center, and the King Center. One of his poems has been inscribed in a downtown Atlanta plaza.
