Combining the melody, harmony and songwriting ethos of the 60's with the performance sensibilities of early American Punk and the work ethic of modern emo bands.

Timeless songs and a contagious youthful optimism are the foundations of Wisconsin raised, Brooklyn based, Locksley who -- comprised of Jesse Laz (vocals/guitar), Kai Kennedy (lead guitar/vocals), Aaron Collins (bass, vocals) and Sam Bair (drums) -- have achieved more as an unsigned band in the last year than most major label acts will in a career.
After releasing a 5-song EP in summer 2005, Locksley were labeled 'the show to see' by the New York Daily News, one of Alternative Press' best unsigned bands in the country and a Billboard Magazine 'Hot New Artist', in addition to rave reviews in Metrolite UK and on the popular You Ain't No Picasso blog.
On the heels of their success in the print media, Locksley secured a deal with STARZ movie channel in which the network funded and shot a music video for the song "Don't Make Me Wait" which was spliced with clips of upcoming major motion pictures and released on all Starz channels to promote their OnDemand service. The success of the video led STARZ to secure the band to open the festivities at the USTA's (United States Telecommunications Association) annual TelecomNext Conference in Las Vegas.
More recently, the songs "She Does" and "Don't Make Me Wait" were featured in two major national television spots for Payless Shoes, which aired in such primetime slots as during Project Runway, America's Next Top Model and the season finale of Lost. Afterwards, Locksley were commissioned to pen the theme song for a new MTV series "Why Can't I Be You?" currently airing everyday on MTV. A video for the song is featured throughout the network and plays in credit squeezes after the show. Based on overwhelming support from fans the video recently won MTVU's The Freshmen against four other major label bands and, as a result, entered full rotation starting on August 14th, 2006.
While Locksley's songs have been embraced by advertisers and critics, it is their blistering live performances that have earned them their rabid fanbase, the result of which has been three highly successful tours (two U.S., one U.K.), a gig as the house band for world-famous CBGB and over 10,000 copies of their EP in circulation. Not to mention opening slots for the likes of OkGo, She Wants Revenge, We Are Scientists, John Vanderslice and the Dandy Warhols.
The coming months will see increased Locksley appearances (opening for the Rapture, appearing in Self Magazine's Dec edition and as a featured artist on blogcritics.org) as they promote the release of their first LP: Don't Make Me Wait on their own Feature Records, a label created with revenue they generated from publishing and touring.
