Litquake's Epicenter Burns Aug. 17 featuring Steven T. Jones, AKA Scribe, author of TRIBES OF BURNING MAN: HOW AN EXPERIMENTAL CITY IN THE DESERT IS SHAPING THE NEW AMERICAN COUNTERCULTURE

Steven T. Jones, aka Scribe, has worked for newspapers in California for 20 years and attended Burning Man since 2001. He began to merge those two pursuits in late 2004 by writing a series of in-depth articles about Burning Man for the San Francisco Bay Guardian, where he works as the city editor. As the burner culture hit its renaissance period, maturing and exploding outward in unexpected ways, Scribe was drawn deeper into his coverage, embedding himself with groups including the Flaming Lotus Girls, Burners Without Borders, and the Temple of Flux and exploring how they were impacting their communities and the larger culture. The result was his new book, The Tribes of Burning Man, which he'll be discussing at this pre-Burning Man Epicenter.

About the Epicenter:
The Epicenter series pairs the folks behind San Francisco's Literary Festival with literary journals, reading series, publishers, schools, and more at free monthly gatherings for the literary-minded. Come to drink, eat, talk, think, and listen.
