Detective Cassie Maddox, who first appeared in French's book In the Woods, returns when a woman bearing a striking resemblance and her old undercover name is found dead. Cassie's old boss creates an extreme undercover opportunity and soon she finds herself immersed in this mysterious woman's old life, with no leads, no suspects and no clue as to the dead girl's real identity.
