May 11, 2007, LOS ANGELES, CA—LIT OUT LOUD, a new literary performance series, will launch on June 3, 2007 at King King Hollywood at 8 pm. The stories and poetry of Nora Ephron, Sherman Alexie, Sudhir Venkatesh, Mary Oliver, Rumi and others will be read by actors including Josh Radnor ("How I Met Your Mother"), James Avery, and Samrat Chakrabarti. With musical guest "The Brendan Hines" performing original songs.

The goal of "Lit Out Loud" is to bring literature and music from an array of multi-cultural artists to a diverse audience in Los Angeles. "Lit Out Loud" will create a cross-cultural conversation through stories, poetry, and music. Each "Lit Out Loud" event will pair up with a community-based charitable organization. The theme of the evening's stories will be linked to the non-profit's cause.

The pilot performance is June 3rd. It will be an evening of short stories, poetry and music about "home." A portion of the proceeds will go to "My Friend's Place," a non-profit in Hollywood that provides homeless teens with resources (showers, counseling, computer services, and childcare).
