Opening Reception: Wednesday, February 13th, from 5 to 7pm

Exploring the potential of the boundless mind, Lisa Lebofsky creates a cerebral and serene environment at Klatch Café. The exhibition includes oil paintings on both paper and aluminum. The work features simple but sublime landscapes that signify transcendent psyche. Figures are sometimes featured lost in reverie, standing on the cusp of infinite space and contemplation. When the figure is absent, the viewer becomes the introspective player.

The works on paper are often created from the artist’s memory of experiences in nature, hence Memscapes. The work on aluminum offers a unifying luminescence that either permeates the painting or—if viewed at different angles—obliterates the image. As a result, viewers must physically engage the work, thereby entering the reflective realm.

Lisa Lebofsky is a painter and metalsmith residing in Bronx, New York. She holds an MFA in painting from the New York Academy of Art and a BFA in metals from SUNY New Paltz. Her work can be found in private collections, and has also been exhibited in solo and group shows throughout the Northeast and overseas. She is an art instructor of fine art and design classes at private and public institutions in the tri-state area and directs Fuse Gallery in the East Village.
