As a performer, José Limón's powerful presence brought a new stature to the male dancer; as a choreographer, he influenced generations of artists, and his works continue to anchor the repertory of his eponymous company. The Limón technique underscores the body's natural rhythms of fall and recovery - the dynamic, unsettling interplay between weight and weightlessness. The Company's Dance Series program features the world premiere of "Recordare" by Lar Lubovitch, specially commissioned in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Company and the centenary of Limón's birth.
